Kazan 2013 Ambassadors

Famous athletes of Russia, as well as representatives of the national cultural elite, were awarded the honorary title of Kazan 2013 Ambassador. The mission of a Kazan 2013 Ambassador is to promote the ideas of the Universiade, to popularise and develop the values of university sports, tourism and a healthy lifestyle.

Alisa Skopina

Kirov

Powerlifter, Master of Sport, world bench press and powerlifting champion. Alongside training sessions, she is involved in public activities: Alisa organises tournaments for young athletes.

"I am very curious to try on the role of a Kazan 2013 Ambassador. Unfortunately, I’ve never participated in such competitions, but I can imagine how interesting and significant they are for athletes. I’m confident that I will be able to become a worthy member of the Kazan 2013 team, at least based on my experience of managing and staging competitions of various scale, I can say that I will be able to make my personal contribution to delivery of the Games."

Andrey Demanov

Kazan

Master of Sports International Level (weightlifting); European champion (2011), Shenzhen 2011 Summer Universiade champion. Silver medallist of the European Championship (2006, 2008), bronze medallist of the European Championship (2009), bronze winner of the World Championship (2010); champion of Russia (2011).

"I’m ready to promote the ideas of the Kazan Universiade, popularise sports and advocate for friendship among youth. I strongly hope that I myself will be able to take part in the Universiade in Kazan."

Andrey Krivov

Saransk

World-class track and field athlete, champion of Russia, bronze medallist of the 2010 World Cup, silver medallist of the European Youth Championship and two-time champion of the 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen (China) in the individual and team competitions.

"I’m very pleased to become a Kazan 2013 Ambassador. Both as a student and an athlete, I attach special importance to it. After being inspired by what I saw at the Universiade in Shenzhen and having embraced this unique atmosphere, I’m ready to tell everyone about the forthcoming grand sports forum in Kazan. I’m confident that the Games in Kazan will be held at even higher level. Both athletes and Government of the Russian Federation will be working with this purpose."

Dilyara Vagapova

Lead singer of the Murakami rock band. Participant of the People’s Artist TV project and 2010 New Wave International Festival in Jurmala (Latvia), Grand Prix holder of the 2006 Trampline International Rock Festival in Cheboksary.

"It’s a great honour for me to be a Kazan 2013 Ambassador. The title came as a surprise to me, as you know I’m not an athlete. When I was told that I’m to become a Kazan 2013 Ambassador, I was shocked and couldn’t understand how it was possible. I’m truly happy because for the whole of Tatarstan and Russia the Universiade is an event of global significance. A great responsibility is laid upon my shoulders: I’m worried and happy at the same time. My parents were very pleased as well. I tell about Kazan and the Universiade everywhere and all the time, I invite everybody in our favourite city. The slogan of the Universiade is ‘U are the World’. The Murakami rock band stands for the good, peace and beauty. We do everything to make people understand: peace is when we are all together. When we are together, we will make it."

Lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
