Galinovsky: Russian rugby players had to play as team in Universiade final

The Russian men’s rugby 7 team did not have to rely on individual actions in the final match at the Universiade, Igor Galinovsky, the Russian national team’s captain, said.

The Russian rugby players beat their rivals from France in the rugby 7 tournament final with a score of 29:19 and won the Universiade gold. “We did not manage to make a lot of efforts in the beginning of the first time: we tried to play individually, instead of acting as a team. That is why, we made a lot of mistakes,” Galinovsky said to the reporter of R-Sport after the match. We are satisfied with our victory. What about the score… It does not matter, even if we won by only one point! - a rugby player added. – The rival was strong enough, the match was quite good and difficult. We had to struggle to the last minute”.

In the previous rugby 7 women’s tournament, the Russian players won a gold medal, having defeated the Italian team in the final.
