Universiade Park – dozens of performances, thousands of guests and million of positive emotions!

All good things must come to an end. So, too, must the 27th Summer Universiade come to an end, even though we have been anxiously waiting and thoroughly preparing for it. Today, July 17, together with the Universiade, the main cultural arena of the Summer Games – Universiade Park – will also be shutting down.

The park officially opened on July 6. It was located on the banks of the Kazanka River, in front of the Farmers' Palace. The territory of the Park was divided between catering areas, elements of the national culture and traditional courtyard, exhibits by Universiade partners as well as stage areas. Dozens of concerts, performances and various contests with valuable prizes from Universiade partners were organized here during the Universiade.

The park welcomed a number of important guests, such as First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, various members of the Austrian delegation as well as the Executive Committee of FISU, and the owner of the Chelsea Football Club Roman Abramovich.

Kazan 2013 Ambassadors could also be found wandering the park. They included Alexander Sladkovsky, Irek Zinnurov, Yana Churikova, Aida Garifullina, Dilyara Vagapova, Sergey Ulegin, Dmitry Sautin, Elena Zamolodchikova, Maxim Sharafutdinov, Mitya Burmistrov and Elmira Kalimullina.

The park’s main stage held many performances by famous Russian musicians such as the bands Semantic Hallucinations and Leprikonsy, violin virtuoso Edgar Akopyan, DJ Groove, the JUKEBOX Trio, St. Petersburg guest Egor Sesarev, True Jazzband, Tatar bands and many others.

According to official data, over 300,000 people visited the park while it was open. July 11 was the day with the greatest amount of visitors, a total of 32,524 people in just one day. Over 200 journalists from 100 media outlets covered the activities at the park daily.

A warm and friendly atmosphere, maintained by the guests and performers, reigned at the Universiade Park throughout the Games.

In summing up the results, we are happy to report that everything that was planned for the park was accomplished. Everyone received a lot of positive emotions, people could relax with their families, in the middle of the summer heat they could skate on the rink provided by the bidding committee of the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade, and of course, saw the fantastic show delivered by Cirque du Soleil!
