Russian national team at Universiade in Kazan. Results

At the 27th World University Summer Games in Kaza,n the Russian team beat the absolute country record, which have belonged to the USSR national team, in aspect of the number of victories and total number of medals at the Universiade.

At the 1973 Games, which were held in Moscow, the Soviet team won 134 medals in total, 68 of them were gold.

Moreover, the Russian team has surpassed the achievement of the Chinese team that won 75 gold medals at the home Universiade 2011 in Shenzhen.

On the basis of the results of the competitions the Russian team won 292 medals, including 155 gold, 75 silver and 62 bronze.The team from China which won 77 medals (26 gold, 29 silver and 22 bronze)is at the second place in the overall medal ranking. The third place went to the team from Japan, which won 84 medals (24 gold, 28 silver and 32 bronze).

The athletes brought the greatest number of the medals. They have won 49 medals, including 22 gold, 18 silver and 9 bronze medals. Rowing, canoeing and swimming (21 medals in each sport) are at the second place, at the third place - gymnastics and belt wrestling, in which the Russians won 19 medals.

In synchronized swimming the Russian team won all four gold medals. More than half of the total number of the gold medals in a certain sport the Russians won in gymnastics (66%), wrestling (63%), boxing (60%) and sambo (57%).

At the Games in Kazan, 67 Universiade records in athletics, shooting, swimming and weightlifting were established. The best Universiade results were more often shown in weightlifting.

The largest number of records in the collection of the Russian athletes - 38. The swimmers Vladimir Morozov, Anastasia Zueva, Danila Izotov, Victoria Andreeva, Yuliya Efimova, women's and men's Russian swimming team, weightlifters Alexander Ivanov, Ruslan Albegov, David Bejanyan, Tatiana Kashirina, Apti Auhadiev, Artem Okulov, Olga Zubova, Nadezhda Evstyuhina, Oksana Slivenko, Dmitry Khomyakov and Diana Akhmetova, athletes Ekaterina Koneva, Julia Zaripova, Anisya Kirdyapkina and Andrey Krivov, as well as the Russian men's and women's teams in shooting became the champions in Kazan.

At the Universiade in Kazan nine national records were beaten. The records were set up by the Russian women's swimming team in 4x100 m freestyle (3:38.15) and Veronika Popova in the 100m crawl (54.12).

The athletes from Moscow won the biggest number of the medals for the Russian team. The capital's athletes have brought to our collection 125 medals. The significant contribution to the success of the Russian team was also made by the athletes from St. Petersburg (64 medals), Tatarstan (55), the Krasnodar Krai (45) and the Moscow Oblast (41). 17-year-old swimmer Elizaveta Bazarova is the youngest athlete in the Russian team at the Universiade in Kazan.

663 athletes, including 18 Olympic champions, 105 Merited Masters of Sports of Russia, 313 Masters of Sports International Class were included in the Russian national team participating in the Universiade in Kazan. The students and graduates of the 72 subjects of the Russian Federation were in the team.

The Russian national team has performed in all 27 sports in which 353 sets of medals were awarded. The largest representation of Russians was in athletics (108 people), canoe sprint - 56 people, swimming - 50 people, rowing - 35 people.
