Directorate for Sports Projects to collaborate with Ronald McDonald House

Today, July 3, representatives of the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects led by its Director General, Azat Kadyrov, visited the Ronald McDonald House in Kazan. The Ronald McDonald House is a real 'home away from home' for families whose children undergo long-term treatment at the Children's Republican Clinical Hospital of Tatarstan's Ministry of Health. The project aims to provide parents with accommodation in the territory of the hospital, so that children are not separated from their loved ones during their therapy. This project is able to address a range of psychological and social problems of children who undergo continuous treatment in hospitals. On August 28, 2012 the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) launched construction of the first Russian House in Kazan, and on July 10, 2013 it officially opened doors to its first lodgers.

"McDonald's, which acted as an Official Partner for the 27th Summer Universiade, implements an extremely important project - the Ronald McDonald House. A unique environment is created here for children to help them recover after treatment and for parents to be beside their children and to take care of them. Today we agreed to enter into promising cooperation - we will help raise funds for the project's charitable foundation and also invite our guests - famous athletes and sports officials - to visit the guest house and meet with children because we understand how important it is to bear a social responsibility, and not just to waste breath but also to back words with deeds," Azat Kadyrov said.

The visitors took a short tour of the guest house, which is located at the 2,000-square-metre site handed over for development in the territory of the Children's Republican Clinical Hospital - in close proximity to its central building. The Ronald McDonald House in Kazan consists of 24 bedrooms, living room, playroom for kids, playroom for teens/computer game room, kitchen, dining room, laundry room, restrooms, office premises, reception and check-in areas. The entire first floor of the guest house (including 4 bedrooms) is accessible to children with disabilities. A specially equipped playground is also available in the grounds of the guest house.

The Ronald McDonald House accommodates more than 600 families per year.
