World Fencing Championships: Three Russian fencers to compete in men's epee round of 64

Pavel SUKHOV and Anton AVDEEV will be joined by Sergey KHODOS who also successfully passed the preliminary round.


Unfortunately, Anton GLEBKO failed to qualify to continue his quest for medals. After winning three meets, he was beaten by Satoru UYAMA (JPN) and Grigori BESKIN (ISR) and dropped a playoff bout to another Israeli fencer Shalom FREILICH, 9-15.

As for KHODOS, he posted four wins and lost one meet in the pool round, but emerged victorious in a playoff bout against Guojie LI (CHN). 


In the round of 64, KHODOS will fence Jose P. ESCOBAR, Anton AVDEEV's opponent will be Chao DONG (CHN) and Pavel SUKHOV will fight against Mohannad SAIF (EGY). Competition will take place on July 20. 

The defending world champion, Nikolai NOVOSJOLOV (EST), will fence his first bout in the tournament against Niko VUORINEN (FIN).
