Alexey Yashin and Sergey Gimaev share their skills with young hockey players in Kazan

Alexey Yashin, Honoured Master of Sports of Russia (1993) and world champion (1993), Sergey Gimaev, famous Soviet hockey player, Honoured Coach of Russia and sportscaster, and other sports stars held yet another masterclass at the Ak Bure Sports Complex in Kazan, as part of the preparations for the charity hockey match, which will be held today at the Sport Palace. The athletes told journalists about their impressions of this class.

"I was born in Yekaterinburg, and the local team of master hockey players would sometimes invite kids to come and watch them. As a boy, I found it fascinating to take a look at how the hockey players were skating and training. But the main thing is hard work, the desire to become a master. If you don't have willpower and motivation, it is hard to achieve your goals. I am happy that I was able to attend this training session and show the kids what I can do. But it all depends on the person. Some are comfortable with a certain technique, some are not. I love meeting young athletes and share the secrets of my past success," said AlexeyYashin.

Sergey Gimaev revealed that he makes a rule out of holding masterclasses in every city he visits. "I never turn down an offer to take part in a masterclass – I held one in Almetyevsk the other day, for example. It is always a pleasure for me, and I find boundless joy in working with children," he said. Incidentally, Yashin and Gimaev go a long way back, playing together for the Hockey Legends club. "Sergey Gimaev is a highly skilled professional, one of the leading hockey players. It's great that today we were able to teach kids together," Alexey Yashin pointed out.

During their visit to Kazan, the legendary athletes also saw the sports, cultural and historical sights of the city. In addition, Kazan guests held three more masterclasses yesterday: one at the Biek Tau complex in Vysokaya Gora, one at the Zilant Sports Complex, and an additional referee masterclass at the Basko venue.
