IAAF delegates to arrive in Kazan for inspection visit

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) inspection team will visit the capital of Tatarstan on October 31-November 2. The delegates will view the Central Stadium, the key venue of the IAAF World Junior Championships that will be held in Kazan in less than two years, and other venues as well.

As we previously reported, the dates of the competition were determined at the IAAF Council this July - the IAAF World Junior Championships will be staged between July 19 and 24. This competition is held biennally since 1986. It is an international event for junior aged athletes (19 years old or younger). In 2014, the tournament took place in Eugene (USA). 

A total of 44 athletics events are contested at the championships and involve track, field (jumping and throwing), and multi event. 2,000 athletes from 180-185 countries and up to 1,000 officials are expected to take part in the tournament. Around 290 judges and 1,000 volunteers will be recruited for the championships. 

The Central Stadium was selected as the competition venue. Training sessions will be held in the football and field athletics arena of the Central Stadium, Universiade Village stadium and throwing zone of the Olymp Stadium.
