12th WUC Rowing: Germany wins gold!

Unfortunately for the Russian fans, the crew from Russia finished last in the Coxless Fours finals.

The German crew (stroke Milan DZAMBASEVIC) was the one that came first in a time of 6:05.07. The team of the Netherlands (stroke Thomas DOCMBOS) came second in a time of 6:05.20. The Poles (stroke Michal Jan CHRUSTOWSKI, 6:07.91) took bronze.

Brits Charlotte BURGESS and Eleanor PIGGOTT immediately took the lead in the women's Lightweight Double Sculls and came first in a time of 7:16.04. The Russian crew of Elena SENYUKOVA and Anna YAZYKOVA (7:18.12) came second, and Charlotte CULTY and Camille LECLERK from France (7:21.69) got bronze.

The German athletes Matthias ARNOLD and Julius PESCHEL (6:28.49) won the men's Lightweight Double Sculls final. Italians Francesco PEGORARO and Francesco RIGON (6:32.27) won silver, and Daniel MATYASOVSZKI and Bence POZSAR of Hungary (6:34.19) got bronze. The Russian athletes Vassily STASHKOV and Evgeny IVANOV finished only fifth.

The French crew (Augustin MOUTERDE, Edouard JONVILLE, Guillaume CAS, Theophile ONFROY) excelled in the men's Lightweight Four finals. They came first in a time 6:06.66. Italians Marcello NICOLETTI, Corrado REGALBUTO, Luca MOTTA, Giorgio TUCCINARDI (6:09.91) came second. The Russian crew (Pavel ZEMSKOV, Maxim TELITSIN, Andrey KRYAZHEV and Vladimir VORONOV) got bronze with a time of 6:13.3.

The last race of the championship was the men’s Eight finals. The Polish crew held the lead throughout the race and came first in a time of 5:41.4. Britain’s second place (5:43.05) became a surprise for everyone. The crew from Belarus (5:45.86) came third. The Russian eight finished only fifth.
