The final day of All-Russian University Rowing Competitions, Russian University Canoe/Kayak Competitions and Russian Rowing Championship was marked with a visit of very important guests that came to inspect the Rowing Centre and attend the sporting events

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev became the main guest of the final day of the competitions. While on his working trip to Kazan, he paid a visit to the Rowing Centre, toured its facilities and attended final canoe/kayak and rowing races. The President even tried his hand at the kayak paddling simulator.

Summing up the results of the competition day, we need to mention the third gold taken by Tatarstan rower Artem Kosov in the 500m single event. Andrey Kryazhev from Saint Petersburg is second, Maksim Grigoryev from Magnitogorsk placed third. In the women's 500m singles the main trophy went to Alexandra Smirnova from Temryuk, Olga Khalaleeva from Tomsk and Ekaterina Mitina from Ekaterinburg earned silver and bronze respectively.

Lukinov/Yanovsky (Saint Petersburg) topped the podium in the men's coxless double event. Yurkin/Polischuk from Samara became second best and Viktor and Valery Plesak took bronze. Tatarstan duos of Leontyev-Ulyanov and Glukhov-Sinichkin finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Two other places were claimed by Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture student Inga Gurzhey and Svetlana Ogneva from the State Central Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Culture (Moscow).

The 500m kayak quad race ended with the following results: the combined team of Khramkova from the Pedagogical Institute of the South Federal University (Rostov-on-Don), Nebolsina from Voronezh State University (Voronezh), Gurzhey and Marchenko from Volgograd State Academy of Physical Culture took the first place, Ogneva/Lebedeva/Nabokikh/Pimenova from the State Central Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Culture (Moscow) became the second best quadruple and Shevchenko/Falyushina/Ponomareva/Nozhka from the Pedagogical Institute of the South Federal University (Rostov-on-Don) earned bronze.

A rather exotic 500m mixed event saw the victory earned by the duo of Roman Vorotnikov/Irina Zvereva. Denis Chernov and Dalia Mingazova finished second and the mixed tandem of Dmitry Karbuzov and Natalia Golizdrenko from Tver claimed bronze.

The 27th venue of the 2013 Summer Universiade has successfully hosted its first three test events. On July 15, when the fate of the 2015/2017 World Aquatics Championships bids will be decided, we'll see whether the Rowing Centre will host open water swimming events or not.
