First medallists decided at rhythmic gymnastics group competitions

Day 2 of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Russian Cup and Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Group Championship has concluded.

The second stage of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Group All-Around competitions has come to a close today. Moscow's group collected gold (56.250), Tatarstan came second (55.625) and the team of Saint Petersburg settled for bronze (55.150). As we earlier reported, the qualifying results were a little bit different on Day 1: St Petersburg's group was in the first position, followed by Moscow and the Republic of Tatarstan. Valentina Ivanitskaya, the coach of Tatarstan's rhythmic gymnastics group, admitted that she is happy with the girls' result. "We did everything possible so that our team embarked on a medal quest at the championship on top of its game," she said.

Best groups were honoured during the victory ceremony which saw the attendance of Tatarstan's Minister of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism Rafis Burganov and FIG TC Vice-President Natalya Kuzmina. Valuable gifts, medals and cups were handed to the medal winners.

On the morning of November 15 gymnastics fans will see the routines produced by the gymnasts in compliance with the new FIG rules. Besides, Day 3 will feature the group 5 balls and 3 ribbons+2 hoops events. The start list is made up of the teams that finished in the top 8. Winners in each group routine will be awarded in the afternoon.
