Russia's synchro swimmers not to attend Universiade Opening Ceremony

The Russian synchronised swimming team will not take part in the Athletes Parade at the Opening Ceremony of the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan, said head coach of the Russian national synchro swimming team Tatyana Pokrovskaya.

The official Opening Ceremony will take place at the Kazan Arena Stadium on July 6 at 21:30 and will end at around 2 at night.

"The girls will not participate in the parade, because tomorrow is our first start and usually you have to stand a lot during athletes parades. They will get tired and it will be no good for their legs. The girls need to rest," said Pokrovskaya to journalists after the Russian synchro swimmers' performance in the preliminary round. Zspeaking for herself, the coach said that she would love to attend the Universiade Opening Ceremony. "I would like to see it because I have never been to the openings, only the closing ceremonies."

The Universiade synchro swimming tournament will be held on July 8-9.
