The second round match of Group A ended with the score 3-0 (26:24, 25:12, 25:15) in favour of Sergey Shlyapnikov’s team, said R-Sport. The beginning of the match had some surprises. The Hong Kong team, clearly inferior in class, gave strong resistance to the Russians and seized the initiative (2:1, 4:3, 6:5). Then, the powerful blows of the 'white-blue-red' restored the status quo and soon led by three goals. However, an easy victory did not happen. The game was tough, and with the score 24:21 in favour of the Russian team, the opponents scored three set points, and were so happy, as if they had won the World Cup or the Olympics. Eventually though, the tournament hosts put the squeeze on the Hong Kong players – 26:24.

The first ten balls in the second set again made things tense. But this time, the Russians rebounded quickly and by to the middle of the set, secured a comfortable eight-point lead. Then it was just a matter of technical execution to gain victory – 25:12. In the third set, Shlyapnikov’s warmed up team was simply unstoppable – 25:15. In the third match of the tournament, the Russians will play against Team USA. This match will be held on July 8, the start of the game – 20:00 Moscow Time.
