Svetlana Kolesnichenko, the winner of the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 admitted that it was a surprise for her to learn about the forthcoming participation in the 2014 Olympic Torch Relay.

The Organising Committee of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi revealed the names of the first elected torchbearers that will participate in the 2014 Olympic Torch Relay. Svetlana Kolesnichenko will represent Leningrad Oblast.
“In fact, it was a very pleasant surprise, I did not expect it, and I am honored to carry the Olympic Torch. I hope I will succeed. This is great, very cool. Earlier I had not such experience. I hope I will be instructed well, told what to do,” Kolesnichenko said to R-Sport reporters. The Olympic Torch Relay kicks off October 7, 2013 in Moscow.
