Athletics. Results of competition day

On July 9, the athletics competitions were held at the 27th World Summer University Games

In the course of the competition day, the athletes competed in 11 medal events. The Russian athlete Andrey Krivov won the Universiade gold in the men's 20 km  race walk, having renewed the Universiade record by 5 seconds. Krivov’s result is 1 hour 20 minutes 47 seconds. The silver went to Ruslan Dmytrenko from Ukraine (1:20.54), while Russian Denis Strelkov gained a bronze medal (1:21.32).

The Russian men's team became the first in the team 20 km race walk, having walked a distance in 4 hours 4 minutes 31 seconds. The Ukrainian (4:08.09) and Canadian (4:20.35) teams won silver and bronze correspondently.

The athlete from Russia Valentin Smirnov won the gold medal in the men's 1,500m competition with the result of 3 minutes 39.39 seconds. Canadian competitor Jeremy Rae finished second (0.06), the athlete from the South Africa Jeremiah Motsau completed the top three Universiade winners (+0.12).

The Ukrainian athlete Anna Titimets became a champion in the women's 400m hurdles event. She left behind another representative of Ukraine, Anna Yaroshchuk (0.13) and Russian athlete Irina Davydova (+0.15) with the result of 54.64 seconds.

Russian athlete Vladimir Krasnov won the gold medal in the men's 400m event, having walked a distance in 45.49 seconds. The silver medal went to Brazilian Andreson Henriques (+0.01). The representative of Jamaica Nicholas Maitland took the bronze (+0.14).

Margarita Mukasheva, the athlete from Kazakhstan, took the first place in the women’s 800m walk final. With the result of 1 minute, 58.96 seconds, she left behind Russia's Ekaterina Kupina (0.61) and Lithuanian athlete Egle Balciunaite (+0.86).

Russian athlete Ksenia Ustalova became a champion in the women’s 400m walk event, having shown her best result of the season - 50.61 seconds. Another representative of Russia Alena Komkova gained silver, having set a personal record of 51.17 seconds. The athlete from Jamaica Anastasia Leroy won a bronze medal (51.72).

Maria Abakumova, the athlete from Russia, won the javelin throw competition with the result of 65.12 metres. Victoria Sudarushkina was the second, having thrown javelin over the distance of 62.68 metres. The Austrian athlete Elisabeth Eberl completed the top three winners (55,02).

Russian athlete Sergey Mudrov took the first place in the high jump event. The athlete from Ukraine Andrey Protsenko won a silver medal, while the bronze went to the representative of China Wang Yu.

Ukrainian Viktor Kuznetsov became a champion in the triple jump competition, having shown the result of 17.01 metres. The Russian athlete Alexey Fedorov won silver, having jumped to 16.89 metres. The representative of Kazakhstan Yevgeny Ektov gained a bronze medal (16.57).

The Belgian athlete Thomas van der Plaetsen won a gold medal in the decathlon event, having totaled 8164 points by the results of ten events. Russian Sergey Sviridov earned 7939 points and won silver. Brent Newdick from New Zealand gained a bronze medal (7611).
