On Monday the American Vashti Thomas captured the Universiade gold with a result of 12.61 seconds. The Belarusian representative Alina Talay (12.78) came in second, and Jamaica’s Danielle Williams (12.84) – third. Argunova's time was 13.06 seconds, the R-Sport agency reports.

'This is my best result of the season; it is close to my personal record. I did my best. Unfortunately, I had technical mistakes: I scraped a few hurdles, and that is, I think, the reason why I could not set a new personal record and perform better,'Argunova said after the finish.
