Savin: Victory over Estonians not easy for Russian volleyball players

The Russian university volleyball team’s victory against the Estonian team was a difficult one due to the Russians' imperfect defense game, stated the Russian team’s attacker Sergey Savin.

On Wednesday the Russians defeated the Estonian team with the score of 3-0 (25:18, 25:22, 25:21) in a group stage match of the Kazan Summer Universiade 2013 tournament.

“The victory was not an easy one, because we had a flawed the defense. We will have to work on this element, since there are stronger teams in the matches ahead and we must improve the quality of defense. In fact, there is no limit to perfection, and we have to make improvements everywhere. In general, we expect resistance from every team, since they are serious in their matches against us and want to enjoy the game. We also want the same, but so far we don’t succeed everywhere,” Savin said to the journalist of R-Sport.

The Russian team, which has previously achieved three victories with the score of 3-0, will play the Belarusian on Wednesday. “The Belarusians are among the strongest and least predictable opponents (at the Universiade). Speaking of the specifics of this team, I do not know it very well. We (volleyball players) have not been watching the games; the coaching staff is more informed on this point, and they will brief us before the match,” Savin remarked.
