Russia’s womens field hockey squad was unable to beat the South Korean team due to insufficient experience, the Russian player Evgenia Sorokina told R-Sport.

The Russian team lost to the South Koreans with a score of 1:2 in the second round of the group stages at the Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. “Maybe we didn’t have the necessary experience, skill or teamwork to win. In the second half we loosened up a bit, and attacked more. But unfortunately we didn’t have much luck. We analysed their game, and expected that they would offer serious opposition. It wasn’t easy, and there was a lot of work off the ball,” said Sorokina.

“As for the fact that failed to score in front of an open net in the last minute, I hope the chance comes again, and I’ll score,” added the Russian player.

Russia will play the Belarusian team on July 12, in the closing match of the group stage.
