Russian national hockey team beat South Africa at the Universiade

Russian men's national field hockey team beat South Africa in the third match of the group stage of the Universiade in Kazan.

The match ended 4-2 in favor of the Araik Margaryan’s team. Russians Paul Plesetskiy(16th minute), Nikolay Yankun (22), Igor Siniagin (61) and Anton Kornilov (70) scored goals.

South African team players Mvimbi Owen (13) and Dalan Phillips (64) also excelled.

Russians rushed to the attack from the very start of the match, but players from South Africa withstood this attack, and in one of his first attacks opened the score. Team of Margaryan added in speed, and the result was immediate. Three minutes after the missed goal Plesetskiy equalized. The guests hadn’t yet pulled themselves together when their goalkeeper had once again to remove the ball from his own goal - this time the Russians scored captain Yankun was brilliant. At the start of the second half Ilfat Zamalyutdinov had a good chance to increase the lead, but the defender managed to push him off the ball and break the empty goal. After 50 minutes, the Russians could upset the opponent twice. Three minutes later the South Africans realized the breakaway counter attack, but the Russians forced to surrender them last minute for the fourth time, informs R-Sport.

The Russian team will play the final match of the group stage on July 13 against the team of Poland.
