Field Hockey. Preview of competition day

On July 13 at the 27th World University Summer Games, the men's finals in field hockey will be held in the Field Hockey Centre.

The day will open with a game between Japan and South Korea. Both teams occupy the last positions in Group B, with only one point each.

In the second match, the leaders of that group will meet – teams from Germany and France, with 9 points each to their credit. The tournament situation has developed in such a way that the winner of this pair will go to the finals, while the loser will play for the bronze medal.

There will also be games in Group A: Malaysia vs. South Africa and Russia vs. Poland. While the Russians have already secured their place in the finals, the battle for second place in the standings promises to be hot. The Malaysian team needs only a tie, but the team from Africa must have a victory. We should note here that the winning teams in this round will go to the finals and there compete with each other for gold and silver medals, the teams finishing second in their group will fight for the bronze medal.

On July 12, the last game was played before the women’s group stage finals. South Korea has strengthened its lead, winning 4-0. Team Russia and Belarus played to a draw – 2:2.  

Thus, in the final battles, South Korea and Russia will compete for first place, and Japan and Belarus will fight for the bronze medal.
