In the final, Liu Zhiguo received 207.5 points. The Russian Nazar Luginets was the competitions' silver prize-winner, losing to the Chinese athlete by 1.3 points.

This is my first serious event and victory at this level. I didn't think about my opponents; it was first of all a struggle with myself", LLiu Zhiguo said to an R-Sport reporter. "In the final, I wasn't nervous and therefore I could handle the shooting. But near the end I started to expect that I would win the gold and couldn't handle myself, couldn't control myself. I was excited. But on the whole I am happy with the final". The Chinese team came in first place in the air rifle team event. The Russian team won the silver, and shooters from South Korea closed off the trio of medalwinners.  "Until the competitions, I had no expectation that I could win a gold in Kazan", Liu Zhiguo concluded. "We also didn't count on a gold in the team. My main goal was to perform consistently and learn to control myself, so that in the future I'll be able to use this experience in large international events. The struggle with myself was the main thing, and I am satisfied on the whole".

The Universiade in Kazan will conclude on July17.
