World's top fencers to gather in Kazan for World Fencing Championships

One of the major sporting events of the year 2014 – World Fencing Championships – will be hosted in Kazan on July 15-23. Over 800 fencers from 100 countries (around 170 teams usually take part in the tournament) are expected to come to the capital of Tatarstan. The competition will feature men’s and women’s foil, epee and saber events. Call for entries from national federations is currently underway.

IWF officials hail success of Junior World Championships in Kazan

The Volga Federal District Youth Forum iVolga 2014 took place at the Festival Park (Lakes Mastryukovskie), Samara Oblast between June 18 and 28. The event was hosted by the Samara Oblast Government with the support from the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. The 16th FINA World Aquatics Championships were presented at one of the sites of the forum.

Universiade Museum celebrates its first birthday

It would seem that quite recently, on June 29, 2013, Kazan was welcoming the first batch of participants of the 27th World University Summer Games. That same day the grand opening of the Universiade Museum took place. Throughout the entire period of its existence the museum was visited by more than 15,000 people, which speaks volumes about people's interest in the Games legacy.

IWF Congress takes place in Kazan

The congress was arranged to coincide with the IWF Junior World Championships that are due to kick off tomorrow in Kazan.

Kazan hosts 2014 IWF Junior World Championships

The IWF Junior World Championships will be held in Kazan between June 21 and 28. The tournament will bring together 521 participants (336 athletes and 185 team officials) from 49 nations. Athletes will compete in 15 medal events across 8 weight classes for men and 7 for women. The tournament will be overseen by 65 referees, including 45 judges of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and 10 local judges.
