Based on their contributions to hosting sporting events in the spring-summer 2014, ten Kazan volunteers were selected by the Executive Directorate for Sports Projects to undergo internship at the 2014 edition of the World Judo Championships that kick off in Chelyabinsk, the capital of the Southern Urals, on August 25. For the first time ever, the international tournament in this sport will be held in Russia.

The major sporting event of this summer pleased participants and guests of the Games with an amazingly diverse programme. One of the parts of the programme was the Games for Health. Games for Life international project held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan. It was implemented through the cooperative efforts of representatives of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate and the New Age Non-profit Foundation.
