On 1 September 2011, Kama Institute of Humanities and Engineering Technology signed a cooperation agreement with the Executive Directorate of the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan and received the official status of ‘HEI of the 2013 Summer Universiade’.

Kama Institute of Humanities and Engineering Technology was established in 1993 as the Aeromech College of Higher Education. In 2001 it became Udmurtia’s first non-state higher education institution to obtain the state accreditation.

The institute currently enrolls over 2,500 students. Over 200 teachers and employees, among them Doctors of Science and professors, work there.

Since June 2010, the institute is a member of the Club of the Rectors of Europe (CRE, Oxford) which enables its professors, teachers and students to participate in the internship programmes of major European universities.

Kama Institute of Humanities and Engineering actively promotes a healthier lifestyle. Students and staff take part in municipal, Republican and all-Russian sporting events and activities. Since 2010, the institute has been implementing the target programme, titled ‘Formation of Health Preservation System for Students of Kama Institute of Humanities and Engineering Technology’, which provides for the holding of such sporting events as the Intrauniversity Spartakiade, autumn relay race, Day of Health and plenty more.

In the build-up to the 27th Summer Universiade, the institute provides scientific, engineering and technical support to the large-scale project for the radical modernisation of the passenger railway maintenance system.
