On 3 September 2011, Perm State National Research University signed a cooperation agreement with the Executive Directorate of the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan and received the official status of ‘HEI of the 2013 Summer Universiade’.

Perm State University was founded on October 14, 1916. The university currently enrolls 12,000 students. 220 Doctors of Science and 660 PhDs are involved in the teaching process.

The university takes part in international educational and research programmes in collaboration with top universities of the United States, the European Union, the CIS, China and other countries. Almost every month many famous scientists and researchers, most of whom are alumni of Perm University, come to the International Academic Exchange Centre, which was founded at the university several years ago, and read their lectures to Russian students.

The university actively contributes the health and well-being of its students by offering memberships at its sports clubs. The Freshers’ Spartakiade, university championships across an array of sports are held every year. The university also owns a ski depot and a track and field training facility.
