On November 29, 2010 the Tupolev Kazan National Research Technical University-Kazan Aviation Institute signed a cooperation agreement with the Executive Directorate of the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan and received the official status of ‘HEI of the 2013 Summer Universiade’.

Kazan Aviation Institute was established in 1932. In 1992 it was transformed into Kazan State Technical University. In 2009 it was granted the National Research University status.

The university currently enrolls over 25,000 students and boasts a qualified faculty of over 1,000 teachers and researchers.

The Tupolev Kazan National Research Technical University implements education projects together with its partners, actively participates in academic mobility projects and hosts international conferences and seminars. It is a member of the European University Association (EUA) and European Association of Aerospace Universities PEGASUS. 

The university strongly contributes to promoting a healthy way of life and spreading ideas of sports by delivering various sporting events.

The university actively promotes the ideas of the Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade. Its students donate their time and efforts to provide essential services at the events held under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), as well as at major sporting events and competitions that have been delivered in Kazan in the past few years.

Sports facilities of Kazan Aviation Institute will be serve as competition venues during the 27th Summer Universiade.
